Meet Your Farmer
The MEET YOUR FARMER project was created to bridge the gap between producers and consumers. Using modern technology, the project allows you to learn about the local farmers who grow your food without putting on a pair of overalls and driving out to a farm yourself.
Funded by Nevada Department of Agriculture's Specialty Crop Block grant program, the project was first rolled out in the grocery aisles of the Great Basin Food Co-op and then expanded into local restaurants during the harvest season of 2018. Ten local restaurants showcased ten local farms' produce. While enjoying a meal, you could watch a video about where your food comes from and learn in real time about how our areas local farmers are working hard to bring healthy food to your plate.
